Class Blog for Year 4 (Eden)

Eden class blog. Week 7. 22nd October.

We are reaching the end of our 1st half term in Eden class, and it’s been quite a long half of a term, and looking around this week at all the weary young faces the rest is definitely due.
We are proud to announce that our election winners for democracy councillors for Eden class are Sebby and Ruby, we had lots of pupils who stepped up for nomination this year, so a massive well done to all those who stood up and read a speech in class.
We have looked at a variety of different topics and subjects including Stone Age through to Bronze Age in history, hockey and the Stone Age stomp in PE, the harvest festival and black history month in PSHE.
Our blogging crew have been busy collecting some of the views of people in their class to see what’s been good and what’s not so good, thanks for all the help Ruby, Sowenna, Aiden and Philip.
We have found out that the classroom is joyful and calm.
Eden isn’t keen on the class name as it causes confusion.
The best subjects are English, History, Art and P.E.
Reading sessions with Jean the volunteer are liked.
The not so good subjects are Maths and P.E. when we do the Stone Age stomp.
That’s about it for this half term…. So enjoy the break and we will see you all fully rested, and raring to go.
Miss. Strickland, Mr. Phillips and Mrs. Williams.

This weeks blog for Eden class. 16th October 2026.
Week 6.

This week Eden class have been continuing with their Stone Age subject in History, attempting to recreate Stonehenge in clay.. although ours were a bit smaller than the original.
Our small phonics group were using phonics blocks instead of cards to change up the lessons a bit and add a bit of fun to the learning.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t playing ball for P.E this week, so we did… playing house team bench ball in the hall instead. Nothing fires up the classes enthusiasm like winning some team points.

Eden class blog…
week 5. 9th October.

We have a lovely week this week…
The children were absolutely wonderful in preparing for the harvest festival assembly, writing and practicing their autumn haiku poems which also tied in with the Looe festival of words.
We’ve been lucky enough to have had some beautiful weather so the children’s hockey skills have been coming along fantastically….
and our small maths group decided to brighten up the playground by taking the giant chalks out for some outdoor learning, which was great fun.
The weather is changing and the temperature is dropping a bit so coats are going to be needed for break and lunchtimes.

Eden class blog- wk4.
2nd October 2026.

This week in Eden class we have been having some fun whilst focusing on our learning. In our maths lesson we have been using whiteboard marker pens and our tabletops for some collaborative learning.
To celebrate European Languages Day and as part of our project with Go Cornish, we have been doing our register in lots of different languages and even conducted a survey around the school to find out the languages people could speak.
We also took advantage of some lovely autumn weather and went around the school grounds looking at the area through the eyes of Stone Age men and women, looking at what we could use or avoid (asset or threat).
And a big shout out to Arlo, Ayliffe, Elowen, Jackson and Lily. T who have been helping out with litter picking duty this week.

Eden Class - Week Two

18th September 2026

It has been another wonderful week for Eden, settling in and getting used to our new daily routines.

"This week, we worked on our ball control and passing skills in Hockey, began learning the Ug Stomp in dance and explored the Stone Age through history and guided reading lessons." Ruby and Phillip.

"In art, we developed our sketching and shading skills before we got to recreate some of the drawings found in caves. I enjoyed finding out about hunters and the weapons that they used such as spears." Aiden.

"My favourite part of the week was coming into school in jeans to help raise money for Jeans for Genes day, which we learnt about for PSHE. We even got to design our own clothes as part of a poster to encourage other people to be aware of the day too!" Sowenna.
