Class Blog for Year 1/2 (Lanhydrock)

Art
Thursday 1st October

In our Art lesson this week we have been learning how to use paint to create patterns. We have also been discovering how primary colours can be mixed to make secondary colours. The children have found that art is a very relaxing activity and they have been very keen and enthusiastic during the lesson this week.

Wednesday 30th September

Today we had an incredible time as a class when the Pop up Play Village came to Looe Primary Academy. The children enjoyed taking part in so many different role play experiences. During the session they were able to take on the role of Hairdressers, vets, nursery teachers, post office workers, restaurant staff and builders. It was so nice to see the children interacting with each other and using their imaginations.

Welcome to Lanhydrock Class
Year 1/2

It has been a fantastic start to the new school year, the children have all been amazing and it has been lovely to see so many new friendships evolving. This week we have been introduced to our new class name - Lanhydrock Class. Next week we will talk about this special National Trust place and finding out what we might see there. Hopefully, many of the children will have visited this place before but we will be arranging a class trip there so that we can experience seeing how wonderful it is.

During the week we have been talking about classroom rules and expectations and we have been working hard to follow these so that we can earn team points for our newly created teams. Your children will have been allocated to one of the 4 new teams Woodpecker (Green), Jay (Red), Kingfisher (Blue) and Goldfinch (Yellow).

The children have ended the week with a wonderful session of Forest School with Mrs Gregory where we made self portraits using natural materials and played some games with the parachute.

This half term our big question is: How was school different in the Victorian times? So, in History we will be learning about schools in the past and comparing them to now. We have lots of lovely learning to look forward to and the children have settled in just wonderfully.

Just a few reminders / updates:

  • PE days are Monday and Tuesday and children can come to school in PE kit on these days.
  • Please send your child in with a water bottle and coat each day.
  • Please order lunches on a Thursday for the following week.
  • Books will be changed on a Friday. Please send your child in with their book and reading record on this day.

Thank you for all your support so far - we are in for a good year!
