Some of this week's learning
The children have amazed the adults this week by using
pictures from The Rainbow Fish story and writing dictated or independent captions
about the picture, using an adjective!!! We can tell they are nearly Year 1
children! WoW!
In maths this week we have been exploring sharing and
grouping. We have sung songs, played games and used plates and counting teddies
to share equally!
This week we completed our Bridge school games, the weather
was a bit yucky, so we did ours in class, which worked out well as we used our
class carpet as our guide, we cheered and took part in all the activities, and
we scored lots of points!
This week we also made beautiful Rainbow Fish pictures, and
we explored and talked about water safety at the beach. The children have
coloured beach flags, dressed boys and girls appropriately for the sunny
weather by cutting out different clothes and accessories. The children have
also designed sun hats and so much more!
Have a lovely weekend

Some of this week's learning
The children have been continuing to explore The Rainbow
Fish. To support our understanding of the book we have mixed colours and used pipettes
to make a Rainbow Fish, we have used different mediums to paint and decorate
fish also. The children's creativity has been amazing to see, and some lovely artwork
has been produced.
In maths this week we have been decomposing shapes, and we used
shapes to make different shapes. For instance, we cut a large rectangle diagonally
and then rotated it to make a large triangle!! Mrs Lyden was set the challenge
to see if she could do it! She needed the children's help!
We have completed lots of other activities too!

Some of this week's learning
We have had a lovely first week back, beginning the last
half term of this academic year!
I English this week we have started to explore a new story
The Rainbow Fish! The children have really enjoyed learning this story using
role play, a story map and by using their oracy skills to sequence the story. We
have also made our own rainbow fish using lots of creativity.
In maths this week we have been concentrating on shape! We
have continued to sing our 2d and 3d shape songs, which we LOVE in Foundation.
The children have been learning to use shapes for purpose and exploring how to
rotate shapes!
Our BIG question this half term is: Where would I bury my
treasure?
So, this week the children have been designing flags to go
on a ship, making underwater pirate pictures, selling ice cream in our role
play area, and exploding shells. In PSHE the children have started their 'changing
units of work and this week we drew around one of the children and labelled
parts of our bodies!
We have completed lots of other activities too!
We wish you a wonderful INSET day tomorrow and weekend

What an amazing, but quick, half term we have had!
The children have been progressing so well, and all the adults are extremely proud of them!
They are definitely ready for a break, and we look forward to welcoming them all back ready for their final half term in Foundation and getting - YEAR 1 READY! WHOOP!
Some of this weeks learning
In English this week the children have been drawing pictures
from our story and then writing small captions underneath to match their
picture. Then the children have been writing lists of their favourite fruits
ready to finish our unit of work next week by making Hungry Caterpillar fruit
kebabs. The adults were so impressed with the children's phoneme to grapheme correspondence,
and we have had some amazing writing.
In maths this week we have concentrated on adding more. We
have done this in many ways using lots of different resources. The children have
worked hard at using full mathematical sentences when answering questions and
using mats I the provision.
The children have continued to embrace the minibeast life
and have been real scientists looking at and exploring, classifying and describing.
They have also made painted butterflies and have drawn bees and bee hives after
our special community visitor Liam came to show us his bee keeping equipment and
tell us all about bees and how honey is made. We even got the chance to taste
honey and try on a bee keeping suit!
We continue to be amazed with how well the children are
progressing
We wish you a
wonderful weekend
The Foundation Team
In English this week the children started by using
adjectives to describe food items from our story. They thought of the most
amazing adjectives, we were all very impressed. Next the children wrote lists
of what the hungry caterpillar ate. The children used their phonics and wrote
some amazing words.
In maths this week we have been exploring missing numbers to
20 and ordering numbers to 20. The adults gave some children, and Miss Ginn
some teen numbers but missed some numbers out and we had to figure out what
numbers were missing!
The children have been collaging food items from our story this
week, classifying minibeasts and finding lots of minibeasts in our outside area
using magnifying glasses. They have loved looking through the magnifying glasses
and seeing the minibeast close up.
We have also made potions in the water tray, sandcastles and
mazes in the sandbox, coloured caterpillar sheets, made minibeasts from Lego, and
so much more!
Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend

What an amazing first week back at school, for summer term!
The children seemed to have grown so much over the two weeks
break!
They have come back raring to explore and learn and boy ,
have we explored this week!
Our new big question is: Are minibeast like me?
In English this week we have started our new text: The Very Hungry
Caterpillar.
The children have used role play, and a story map to learn
the story. We came into class on Tuesday and The Very Hungry Caterpillar was clearly
still hungry as he had eaten our raisins and bread sticks!! The children have
loved reading this story and recalling all the yummy foods the caterpillar are.
Today we had a story table and then children tried the first three foods of the
story, an apple, a pear and an orange!
In maths we have been exploring teen numbers 11-19, we have explored
how teen numbers have one ten and some more! We have used base ten, blocks, counting
teddies and lots of manipulatives to learn our teen numbers!
We have also this week used so much of our outside area, the
children have been so happy to get back outside. Brain and AJ our trust caretakers,
worked so hard in the holidays to make our new sandpit! The children can now utilise
all the new things that the fund-raising money brought us, including a new writing/colouring
table, a mud kitchen, new water tray resources, a dumper truck area, garden decorations,
new sand play toys, binoculars and water fountain and so much more. The
Foundation team cannot thank you enough for the fundraising; listening to the vocabulary,
conversations, excitement and role play that has been taken place this week has
been nothing short of wonderful!
The children have explored so much this first week back and
the sun has helped with an exciting engaging week!
Have a lovely weekend

Some of this weeks learning:
In Enlgish this week the children have been ordering instructions
on how to make a jam sandwich. They then went in groups to the local bakery and shops to buy ingredients. The children also practiced their clear and
precise oracy skills to give 'a robot' ( Mrs Phillips has a robot button you know!).
At first the children were not very clear and the robot got very confused and
emptied the bread all over the table. Then when the children said - spread the
butter, the robot scooped butter with their hand and spread it on the bread
eewwww! However, with a little bit of practicing and prompting the children gave brilliant
instructions to allow the robot to finish a yummy sandwich. The children then
gave each other instructions to make sandwiches and then we ATE THEM!
In maths the children have been exploring the number ten and
making ten with three parts! The children then explored doubles to ten in
detail! Wow they are all progressing so well.
The children have been helping Mrs Phillips make the outside
area look soooooo much better. We have swept, scooped, cleaned and built! Our
new activity picnic table is amazing, and the mud kitchen will be in its new
home soon. The track area looks great and Mrs Waring has kindly brought us more
stones as we ran out! It is beginning to look so much better. We cannot wait
for our new sandpit and surrounding fences!
Enjoy the sun this weekend
