WOW! I cannot believe its half term already, its gone so quick!
The children have been amazing this half term and have adapted to full-time education, new adults, new routines and learning so well! We are beyond proud of all they have achieved this half term.
This week we finished learning level 2 in phonics, ff/ll/ss and s saying z. The children have achieved so much in phonics and now we will continue to practice using the phonemes they know to blend them together and read small words. We will also have a big emphasis on writing and letter formation.
In maths this week we have continued to subitise and also explore MORE. The children have observed lots of amounts and used STEM sentences to explain what they see for instance " Sam has more cars than Pat"
In English this week we finished our unit of working by going on an adult hunt in our local community. The children explored lots of adults that help in our local area, and we were so lucky as Maya in our local shop gave us some sweets for being so good!
The children have been creating and exploring every day, and their hard work, exploration and communication is evident in how much they have progressed in just half a term!
Rame Class are simply the best!
Happy Half Term.
We have completed our penultimate week of the first half term in Rame class! Wow it has gone so quick!
In phonics this week we have learnt phonemes h/b/f/l, the children are using all the phonemes they know to read their books and have been amazing the adults in class this week.
In maths we have been exploring composition of the number 4. The children have been using multilink cubes to make 4 different ways; they made their very own numberblock! We also used skittles to subitise this week, and I think we may have some amazing bowlers on our hands let alone mathematicians!
In English this week, we changed our story from We're Going on a Bear Hunt to We're Goin on an Adult Hunt. We discussed the adults that can help us in school and the adults that can help us in the community. We then went on an adult hunt in school to find these adults! we hope to go for a local walk next week to find some of the adults in our community that help us too!
In outdoor learning this week we used conkers, leaves and skewers to make our very own bear from our story! The children explored Autumn through story and craft, and it was an amazing session full of skills and knowledge.
We have had a wonderful week in Rame class and we are looking forward to the last week of this half term next week. Gentle reminder that school is Monday - Thursday next week and it is INSET day on the Friday!
Week 5 in Rame class has been full of giggles when learning!
Some of this week's exploration:
In English the children have been showing the adults how well they can use their 'funky fingers' to hold their pencil using a tripod grip. They have then drawn pictures of their favourite part of the story whilst maintaining a good pencil grip. This is really tricky to do but the children are progressing so well.
Handwriting in Rame class and this point of the year may not look like other classes handwriting BUT rest assured we are! We have completed loads of dough disco this week, we have pulled ourselves along using scoot boards, we have moved like animals around the room. At this stage of the year ensuring that the children have strength in their shoulders, arms, hands and fingers is vital for them to become amazing writers.
In PE with coach Jack The children have been participating in lots of listening and attention games. The children have been moving slow, fast, up and down. They gave loved playing the splat game and sharks in the water.
Outside this week the children...and Mrs Lyden were loving using the crates to explore, speed, and weight! check out the picture!
In maths this week the children have been exploring the compositions of 2, 3 and 4. The children have been using lots of STEM sentences to understand their maths activities. 1 and another 1 is 2. 3 and another 1 is 4.
We continue to have so much fun learning in Rame class and the children continue to impress us every day!
Rame class have been super busy this week!
Some of this weeks learning:
In phonics we have been learning phonemes g/o/c/k. The children have been using their robot arms to blend words with these sounds and read them. They are really progressing well with their oral blending!
The children had a competition at the beginning of the week; they were split into two teams with Janet and Mrs. Lyden and then they had to work together using their sequencing and oracy skills to order the story of We're Going on a Bear Hunt. They worked they were brilliant. The children then spent the rest of the week working with MRs Phillips to individually sequence the story and retell the story using brilliant oracy skills.
In Mastering Number, we have been learning to count accurately. Monkey the puppet was counting wayyyyy to fast and getting very confused, so we all worked together to count small objects by touching or moving them. The children were amazing at this and by the end of the week they were counting lots of different objects with ease, even massive objects in the room!
During bucket time today the children discovered ingredients to make slime! So together we all made slime and played with it. The children were using amazing vocabulary during bucket time, and some of these words were put up on our wow word wall!
The children are accessing lots of activities during COOL time and continue to play, explore and discover so well together.
Such a wonderful week of exploring and learning!
Rame Class
Rame Class continue to be amazing!
Some of this week’s learning:
This week in phonics we learnt the phonemes i/n/m/d. We have really been practicing using
the sounds we know to ‘robot talk, read the word- blending the sounds to read
the word. Only three weeks in their new
school and they are achieving so much.
Continuing with our big question, this week we have been
exploring what we like and what we dislike. We have explored how we grow and
have ordered pictures from babies to the elderly. We have been outside
exploring the bricks and trying to make massive, big, humongous houses!! The
children used these amazing words!
We have started Mastering Number( our new maths journey) this
week and the children have adapted to the formal lessons well. They have ‘blown’
Mrs Phillips’ socks off with their knowledge! Number blocks 1, 2 and 3 kept
setting the children subitising challenges and they beat those challenges every
single time! (Subitising is knowing an amount without counting).
Today we had bucket time, and we explored conkers in their shells,
the children used wonderful vocabulary to describe the conkers, the adults then
opened the shells to explore inside. We will use the conkers next week in our
learning!
This is only a small fraction of what the children have been
doing, and they continue to impress us every day!
Rame Class is the best!!
Have a lovely weekend
The Foundation Team
We had another wonderful week in Rame Class.
Some of this week’s learning:
Phonics:
This week in phonics we learnt the sounds (phoneme) s/a/t/p.
The parent phonics sheet was sent home this morning to continue the children’s
wonderful phonic knowledge.
So, this week the children have made faces with different 2d
shapes, we have looked in mirrors and filled a head template in with our faces
and looked at different eye colours. We have explored who is special to us and
drawn lovely pictures of them, and we had templates of girls and boys, and we
used our creation station to decorate them.
During outdoor learning we used natural resources to make faces,
and we also explored different ingredients and made face pizzas!
There has also been so much more exploration from the
children during COOL (choose Our Own Learning) time and a favourite this week
was bucket time.
Next week we start formal math’s lessons!
