At Looe we believe that it is important for maths skills to be introduced in an organised and logical way.  We use the following calculation progression documents to help us ensure that the children are building on their prior maths knowledge.
As you will see from the documents below, we very much believe our pupils need to work with practical resources and visual models before progressing onto more abstract concepts. We also believe strong mental maths skills (such as knowing number bonds and times tables) are essential to becoming a good mathematician- the better a pupil's mental skills the easier the a pupil will be able to develop their written calculations and their problem solving skills.
More information will appear on the website over time. If there is anything you don't understand, pop into school and have a chat with us.
